This is a tool for monitoring network related event logs.
This is a tool that provides administrators information in real-time about the state of the network. Any extra-ordinary event will generate an alert for the attention of the admin. LogAxon is a server receiving and collecting SNMP traps (SNMP version 1, 2c) and Syslog messages sent by the network devices. Filters can be set up so that only the relevant messages are displayed. Any alert situation will cause an email or an SMS to be sent to the responsible person. The email address and/or the mobile phone number can be specified by the user. The traps are generated to warn administrators about unusual situations. LogAxon also allows the interpretation of the OID identifiers. Based on the MIB base defined, it can interpret the names too. Several IP addresses can be used as filtering parameters. Users can add these addresses so that alerts and notifications can be sent. The reports created by the program can be in PDF, XLS, XML formats.
The interface is quite straightforward and presents the information in a meaningful way for the administrators. In the first screen, the administrators can set up things through drop down lists. Parameters to be set are organized under tab groups. These include SNMP and Syslog server related parameters and settings required for email, SMS and filters. On the next screen the log messages are shown. MIB details can be verified. The first page has an option that specifies if these MIB data should be used to translate the OIB data. This is a very good tool.
